Paying a balloon twister to give out Balloon dogs with my initials signed on them, in order to mock Jeff Koons who takes credit for work he outsourced, and to ask a simple question: Who is the real artist
Jeff Koons is one of the most famous artists in the world. One of his most iconic work is his giant Balloon dog which sold by auction house, Christie's, for over $58.4 million to an unknown buyer over the phone. Not many people realize that Koons didn't come up with that balloon dog shape. He simply planned to oversized it, transforming it into a gigantic shiny sculpture and outsourced it to a manufacture which makes it for him. Is the joke is on us? Who is the artist in that case? I wanted to challenge that question therefore I decided to make a stunt inside my art school. I contacted a balloon twister, the one that made the prototype for Koons and ask him to come and make a live performance. He gave out hundreds of Balloon dogs with my name singed on them. Why? because I paid for it.
